Prior to returning to academia, Bob Legg was the founder and General Manager of a communications firm in Virginia which consisted of a commercial radio station, a cable television system, a bi-state advertising consortium, a television channel and a broadcast production facility. Legg teaches both introductory and advanced video production classes.

For the past few years Legg has devoted his time to documentary production. Working with student crews, he has created shows that have won both national and international awards. Chief among these is The Long Marchseries which explores the many-faceted areas of the American Civil Rights movement. The primary piece of this series was aired on PBS.

Projects in the works:

Work continues on The Long March with an edition which looks at the role of females in the American Civil Rights Movement. Khrushchev, Corn and Iowa: Citizen Diplomacy in the News is now making the documentary competition rounds, and has already garnered some awards.   Through the Lens of Time, a documentary that looks at the turbulent history of the island nation of Cyprus, particularly as a signpost of possible world-wide events, is in production.  Summer 2013 will hopefully find him back in Cyprus leading his 5th year of Study Abroad classes.  As usual, UT School of Journalism & Electronic Media, Visual Communications' students will be involved in all these these projects.
