From November 10 to 13, six JEMers went behind the scenes at "the largest competition in food sport." The students, Lauren Batson, Brianna Bivens, Danielle Clark, Sydney Gilliam, Natalie Ward and Brock Zych, spent four days reporting on all aspects of the World Food Championship, an international food sport competition. The students produced numerous videos and photosets for their website and for social media. The trip provide students with real-world experience with finding and producing news stories in relatively short time period. The student had think on their feet and work with each to produce high-quality work.
JEM junior Sydney Gilliam was a videographer and editor on the trip. She produced the video on the top of this page and spent a day and a half documenting the competition through the eyes of the South African Barbecue team.
The trip was made possible through the generous support of JEM alum Mike McCloud (BS/JEM '90), who is CEO of the World Food Championship.
